We are Singaporeans planning to visit London and watch shows. Is it better to book theatre tickets online?
or purchase tickets over in London. Also, how to get cheap or discounted tickets?
You are probably better off either buying tickets from the website of the show you want to see, or get them at the box office when you come over. A lot of cheap theatre deals that you find online are selling the most expensive seats at a lower price and you generally can’t decide where you sit. Some theatres release a few tickets every day at a reduced price, or give reductions for single seats. There is a half price ticket booth in Leicester Square, but not every show is on their list. The only time I would advise buying in advance is if the show is sold out for most performances. For example, I went to see War Horse at the New London Theatre on Monday last week. Most tickets online were for over £40, but at the box office, they were offering single tickets in the stalls for £25. Lastminute has some deals but it is worth checking the actual shows website in case they have cheaper deals.
