The View Tickets
If you are travelling to Hong Kong for business or pleasure then it is a sin to miss Victoria’s Peak. This peak is sometimes simply called The Peak and it provides you the best view of Hong Kong at day or night. There are some lovely souvenir shops at the top and you can buy these souvenirs for your loved ones back home. However there are some branded stores as well such as Crocs. If you really want to get the best view from the Peak then you can buy tickets to the Peak Tower. This is an enclosed glass area from which you can have a 360 degree views of Hong Kong. And there is Madam Tuassads museum here also where you can catch up with wax figures of local starts such as Jackie Chan and Michele Yeoh and also international starts such as Pierce Brosnan.
And there are some beautiful nature trails that you can take from the top to climb all the way down. The area around the Peak has the most expensive real estate prices in Hong Kong. There are some beautiful buildings and houses offering that dream view that you have been always waiting for. Another thing not to be missed when going to the Peak is to take the tram from the base station. This tram climbs up the 400 meter run in about 5 minutes. This tram is said to have the steepest climb in the world at about 70 degrees and you will see that all the buildings that pass by the tram seem to be reclining. Instead of buying two single tickets you should buy a return ticket which will cost you about 39 Hong Kong dollars. Or you can take the tram one way and the minibus when you return. The view from the minibus passing down the winding road is also excellent.
The two malls inside the Peak are called the Peak Galleria and the Peak Tower. And if you have time in your hands then you should take the Pokfulam Native Tree Walk that starts behind the Peak from Mount Victoria’s summit. This is a nice one and a half hour walk and you will learn about plants on the way. There is also a beautiful Chinese Garden next to the summit and it provides some stunning views of Hong Kong. You can go there via the Mt. Austin roads which you can find just behind the peak café. At the bottom of the roads you can also visit the Pokfulam Village which is one of the oldest settlements in Hong Kong. Here you can go back in time as the village offers a glimpse of how people used to live hundred years ago. Before going to Victoria Peak during the day see to it that the day is bright and the skies are clear as then you will get the best view of Hong Kong.
