Off Broadway Tickets New York
Question for New York Native, you seem smart
?
I’m planning to visit there in August with a group of friends. We’d like to see the sights, hopefully get tickets to Letterman, etc.
Any tips on getting into things easily?
How much for a 12-pk of beer there?
How much for a beer at a bar there?
How much for a glass of wine at a restaurant?
Would you recommend a hop on/hop off pass, or some other method of getting around?
Any broadway shows you’d recommend?
Anything you think a bunch of 28 year old ladies would enjoy! Thanks, you seem quite knowledgeable. We hope to have a great time. I’ve already copied your list of things to do/see in NY.
Thanks in advance!
I’m from Canada, that’s why I ask what things are ‘there’
How much for a 12-pk of beer there? $10
How much for a beer at a bar there? $4
How much for a glass of wine at a restaurant? Depends what kind of wine you are getting, and depends what restaurant.. If you are getting a cheap bottle of Piesporter Michelsberg, it will be $8, if you are getting a bottle of Rothschild Pauillac, in the hundreds.
On the main island there are plenty of great restaurants (all kinds of food) down in the east/west villages, and NoHo, which is near the NYU campus, so it’s a pretty expensive, clean, and happening area.
There are also great restaurants and bars on the Lower East Side (2nd and 3rd avenue from 4th to 14th street), and Union Square is also fun (Broadway and 14th).
In midtown, Hells Kitchen has lots of restaurants (34th – 42nd around 9th ave), and chances are just from walking up and down you will find a restaurant or bar.
Going all the way up around the 80s-90s on Broadway and Amsterdam avenues is a bar/restaurant area as well, and there is also a great NYC market called Zabar’s (Broadway & 80th) that you should stop into if you ever want to grab food for the apartment. If you drink coffee or tea I would definitely recommend getting some from there as well.
Broadway shows? Mamma Mia, Wicked, The Lion King
If you are into clubbing, there are plenty of clubs (Webster Hall, Butter, etc.). Rooftop bar at Hotel Gansevoort (meat packing district) may be nice at night if you want to see the city. ESPN Zone in Time Square is fun. If you ladies like shopping check out the SoHo area. Walk up and down along Broadway (the avenue).
Since your hotel is really close to Central Park (Holiday Inn @ 57th is near the tip of Central Park West), I suggest chilling out there on a nice day. They have Shakespeare in the park throughout the summer, and outdoor concerts, if you are into that stuff.
