New York Broadway Shows 2009
what broadway show do people thinks the best?
im over in new york end of december beginning of january 2009 /2010
went to see young frankenstein this year and really enjoyed it.
I had heard of “Blithe Spirit” which is an old Noel Coward play (ghost story comedy) I’ve seen elsewhere. I wasn’t planning to see it. Then I found out Angela Lansbury is in it, playing the nutty psychic. Now I think I’ve got to catch it. It’s playing till July 19.
Orchestra tickets are an outrageous $116.50, but nosebleed-seat tickets are as low as $36.50.
Another revival: “Waiting for Godot” is not one of my favorite plays, but Nathan Lane is in it. He’s always great on stage. So is John Goodman who sometimes I like OK. Lane does a lot of Broadway and never disappoints. I don’t plan to see it, but it’s probably an enjoyable experience.
Oops. Just realized you’re not going to be in town till December. That rules out “Spirit” but “Godot” might still be playing. I’d recommend picking up a New Yorker shortly before you travel to see whether there are any other short-run shows playing. We got a great deal on a Whoopi Goldberg one-woman show a couple of Christmases ago & there are a lot of great shows that only run for a couple of months.

Broadway Musicals: The Biggest Hit and the Biggest Flop of the Season – 1959 to 2009 $7.68 When Evita opened on Broadway during the 1979-1980 season, it was (as one of its songs said) “High Flying Adored.” But in the 1970-71 season, the producers of Lolita, My Love saw their show (as one of its songs said) “Going, Gone, Gone” after its torturous Philadelphia and Boston tryouts. It didn’t even try to brave Broadway, although the bookwriter-lyricist of My Fair Lady had written it. It happ… |
