What Should My Las Vegas Budget Be?
My wife and I are going to Las Vegas with friends on Final Four weekend. We’ll be there Sunday through Wednesday. We already got a great deal on flight and hotel (staying at MGM Grand). I’d like to know how much pocket money we should take with us. We’ll likely eat at least 9 meals while we’re there, go to a club or two, gamble (I like to gamble, but my wife can’t stomach it), see a show, and buy some souveneirs. I’ve heard that you can get discounted show tickets the day of performance. I’ve also read where Final Four weekend is one of the most expensive. Does anyone have any advice on how much money to take? Does anyone have any tips on saving money while we’re there or for not being taken for a sucker when a cheaper alternative would suffice?
We’re just back from first trip to Las Vegas. Our budget was $400 per day (we were there for 2 weeks in the Vanetian Hotel). We spent our budget! We signed up for the casinos and used the free money they gave to play the slots, but surprisingly got fed up with hearing the click, click click of the machines and decided to use our holiday money elsewhere! Food is expensive in the hotels but you can get some bargains elsewhere.
We did 6 shows and the Grand Canyon. Highly recommend Zumanity (New York New York), Blue Man (Vanetian) and Jersey Boys (Vanetian). We did get our tickets for some of the shows at the Tix 4 tonite stalls and made a good saving. The seats were absolutely fine but I would recommend that if you do get your tickets from them that you go to the hotel as early as possibly to choose your sea (we went during the day rather than wait for before the show).
Shopping…..well, that was something else! If you are able to do designer shopping then you will be in heaven if not, go to the outlets at the end of the strip. Some good bargains to be had there.
