London is well known as one of the UKs best destinations for anyone hoping to soak up a little theatre. The capital of England is home to numerous venues and productions of all shapes and sizes, making it a beacon for fans of the stage. This area, particularly around Haymarket, Covent Garden and Leicester Square, is packed with performances and theatres that make it a premier destination, most notably Drury Lane, Shaftesbury Avenue, and The Strand. These are also good choices for those looking for comedy shows and performances.

The Royal Opera House, the London Coliseum, Sadler’s Wells Theatre and the Royal Albert Hall are all also located in the West End, meaning theatre buffs can also enjoy everything from ballet to opera in the area.

The Fringe is the name of all other London theatre activity that resides outside of these two main districts and many smaller venues can be found on the peripheries. These establishments can offer a good chance to see acts on their way to the big time and could offer entertainments at cheaper prices, so they are definitely worth checking out.

As London is such as big place, it’s a good idea to book London hotels depending on the kind of theatre you’re hoping to enjoy on your trip to the capital. This means choosing hotels offering easy access to, for example, the West End if you’re heart is set on enjoying some show-stopping musicals.
