Cheap Nyc Broadway Tickets

I’m Visiting NYC and am looking for things to do?

I’ll be visiting NYC for a week or so and I was wonder what i could do that would be relatively cheap. I’d like to see a Broadway show but i don’t know how the discount tickets work. I’m not really looking for touristy things… (except the broadway show)
Any help would be much appreciated thanks!!

You get discount tickets at a place called TKTS (47th and Broadway) on the day of your show. You have to bring cash or travellers cheques (they don’t take credit cards) and the shows are discounted 30-50%. Matinee shows are sold the morning of, and evening shows are sold after 3pm.

Make SURE you visit Greenwich village. It’s my favorite part of the city. Walk down Bleeker street, and visit all the funky shops. There are great bars and restaurants in this area, and you’ll get to meet a lot of locals. There’s a fantastic piano bar in the village called,”Rose’s Turn,” where everyone there is pretty much a broadway calibar singer, and they all sing along and improvise. I really cool experience.

You should also visit Canal Street and buy some knock-off designer goods. It’s a very unique experience and pretty shady…but fun!

If you want a good view of the statue of liberty, take the Staten Island Ferry. It’s free, and runs really often.

Walk across Brooklyn Bridge, and turn around to admire the fantastic skyline. So awesome!

If you’re planning on doing any tours, I’d say the bus tours are the best bang for your buck. It’s like, $49 for 3 days, and they take you all over Manhattan. The beauty of this is, that you can get off the bus, and get back on the next one at a lot of different hot spots around the city. So you save time/cab fare and get to visit areas of the city that you may have missed otherwise. The red buses are better than the blue ones, since they have more buses and come more often.

I hope at least one of those interest you! It’s a fantastic place. Basically just pick an area and start walking. You’ll find awesomeness wherever you go!
