Broadway Tickets In Ny
Do you go through metal detection before a NY Broadway play?
Hey all,
I am going to be asking my girlfriend to marry me this weekend. She is a big fan of broadway and has always wanted to see Phantom so for christmas I got her tickets.
I will be proposing to her after the show but I will have the ring on my and I was wondering if you go though metal detection before entering the theaters? I am not sure a metal detector would go off for a ring in a pocket but I don’t want to take any chances.
As a side note, after the play is there a way to make your way down toward the stage or are you able to actually get on stage one the production is over? I am guessing probably not but since this will be my first Broadway play I figured I would ask. My girlfriend has done theater before herself and I thought it would be unique if after the play after everyone left, we were able to go up on stage just so she could “see what it looked like from an actors perspective” and propose to her while we were onstage.

If metal detectors were sensitive enough to detect rings, every woman wearing an engagement ring would have to be scanned manually. (Whether it’s inside your pocket, or on your hand outside your pocket, makes no difference to a metal detector.)
I’ve never seen a member of the audience on stage, except at plays with audience participation, but you could contact the theater management in advance and ask.
