Broadway Tickets – There is No Easy Way to Get Them!
Broadway Tickets are the most sought after ones as the plays at all Broadway theatres enjoy mass-appeal and are a huge hit amongst audience of all ages.
Broadway – The Origin And History
Broadway was instituted in the early 20th Century. The first marquee that was lit up was of a theatre where Fifth Avenue crossed Broadway on 23rd Street. By 1901, the whole area was lit up by white lights and was known as the ‘Theater District.’
Initially, the district was spread across 30 blocks. However, today there are 39 theatres located in the Theatre District with many more designated as Off-Broadway, and Off-Off-Broadway theaters.
Broadway, from the very beginning was known for its super hit shows. The early theater genres primarily focused on light comedy and operettas. However, in 1915, musicals made their debut and by 1921, shows produced by and starring black actors were staged, with the first one being ‘Shuffle Along’.
Over the years, Broadway has put on shows, such as Oklahoma!, West Side Story, Gentlemen Prefer Blondes, the musical masterpiece – A Chorus Line, Young Frankenstein, Jersey Boys, The Wicked, The Color Purple, Tarzan, Mary Poppins among many others. Cats, which debuted in October 1982, and stopped production in September 2000, was the longest running show in the history of Broadway until January 2006, when The Phantom of the Opera, surpassed it with its 7,486th performance. Whew!!
Battle For Broadway Tickets!
There is always a dearth of Broadway Tickets as the tickets for any Broadway play are always booked in advance and it is not easy for people to get the tickets of their choice and convenience. To procure the tickets for any show that is playing at Broadway is always quite a daunting task, especially when one wants to get them as discount.
One can get the tickets at the Broadway Tickets counter at the box office but the chances of getting the tickets a few days before the show are not bright as all the shows enjoy immense popularity. There are quite a few other ways of getting the Broadway Tickets. One way is to procure them through re-sale forums or from discount codes, but getting them from such sources is not always the right idea as they are not reliable options. One can also get tickets from scalpers that one can find loitering around the theatres. Scalpers is also not so good an option as one is not guaranteed of genuine tickets as many a times they sell tickets which are false and are also not traceable.
