Broadway Play Mary Poppins
NYC??? (best answer= 5stars)?
Okay, so for my 16th birthday, i’m bringing 2 friends to NYC for a weekend. We really want to see a broadway play- already seen Mary Poppins, Wicked, Chorus Line, Lion King, Legally Blonde- so what other plays are good for teens? Do you have any other fn ideas that will keep us busy?? and restaurants???? Also, we need a really fun place to stay… preferably a really nice hotel. Thank you so much!!
Okay first of all, you need someone over the age of 21 to check in into a hotel anywhere. If your parent(s) are coming then you have no issue. For a hotel, I recommend just googling hotels in NYC, and see what comes up. The closer you stay to the theater district the more expensive they are. But I’ve heard great reviews about the Marriott Marquis in the middle of Times Square, and the Doubletree Metropolitan Hotel located at 569 Lexington Avenue.
As for Broadway Shows, you cant go wrong with Grease, a classic thats supposed to be really fun to see(this is from comments that I’ve read). Spring Awakening is fun, but its racy, has some nudity, and language. Not sure if your parents will let you see it due to your age. Another one that is supposed to be great is Jersey Boys if you can get tickets (hottest ticket on the Great White Way). You also cant go wrong with an absolute class in Phantom of the Opera, or the revial of Gypsy, supposed to be one of Broadways greatest shows ever written.
As for other activities, depending on the time of year your coming, if its the middle of next month to January, the department store windows are a must see (Macy’s, Saxs, Lord and Taylor, Bloomingdales, Tiffany’s). You can also take a carriage ride around Central Park, and go ice skating in the many public rinks around the city. As for everyday, you can to to the Museum of Natural History (the same one as in the movie Night at the Museum), you can go to Chinatown, take a boat ride around Manhattan, go to Ellis Island and the Statue of Liberty just to name a few. Theres so much to do, its so hard to see everything in just a few days.
As for restaurants, it totally depends on what you like to eat. If your into the theme restaurant thing, I highly recommend the ESPN Zone, the best food for a theme restaurant, and its right in Times Square, and a big plus is the arcade on the third floor. If you want a little bit nicer, I recommend Simply Pasta on 41st in between Broadway and 6th Ave(Avenue of the Americas). Food is reasonable, about $10 a dish and its a lot of food. For another popular eatery, Serendipity 3, at 225 E 60th St. Its been recommended by Oprah. I recommend phoning in a reservation to this place, as everytime I’ve tried to get in, its been over an hour wait. Also Chinatown and Little Italy have very good food and for very reasonable prices.
